A Soft Opening

 A bit of almost normalcy in these strange times, Brigite has decided to re-open Galerie Art Plus. A soft opening with social distancing, hand sanitizer and facemasks required. It felt good to pack up and deliver work to the gallery, so if you are in Sutton please drop by and see some of my newest works.

Just to note, the gallery will be open from Thursday to Saturday, 1 to 5 pm and by appointment 450.521.3189.

Some Studio News

 So pleased to announce my upcoming show "A Silent Trust" at Galerie Art Plus, opening July 4 and on 'till August 4. The vernissage is Saturday July 6 from 2 - 5pm and it would be a pleasure to see you.
 Started 3 years ago [2016], these paintings have had a more than a few lives. I've put on paint, scrapped and sanded off paint, added more paint, added thinner layers of paint, all the while trying to find the why that these works needed to be paint and not some other material. I had a sense of why but I kept loosing it, but as they say "she persisted" and here I am.

From July 13 to 21st  Gallery Art Plus will be open from 10 am to 5 pm during the Tour Des Arts. There will be concerts at the gallery 2 nights during this time so check out the flyer for more details. Link here.

And if you are in Europe, a group show of The Drawing Collective and invited artists are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus with a show at hase29, Osnabrük, Germany. Four of my drawings will be in the show which ends August 3. A link to hase29 website.

Getting Back to the Studio

After a rough summer [J. had to have some surgery, he's fully recovered now] the gardens are almost put to bed, ready for winter and I have had more time and inclination to be in the studio. I wanted to let you know that Rebelles / Rebelles opens this Thursday, Nov2, at Galerie Art Plus in Sutton; all the works are small format and all are 9 in x 9 in framed. I will be exhibiting new work from my ongoing exploration of light and shadow. Hope to see you there; the vernissage is Saturday, November 4 from 2 - 5 pm.

Last Day for "Under Construction"

I've really enjoyed my time at Galerie Art Plus and want to thank Brigite for all her hard work: for her enthusiasm and dedication, for her support and belief in art and artists, for her belief in the power of art, of arts necessity in our lives; Brigite thank you, you are a gift. 

Today is the last day to see the show gallery hours are 1 -5 pm.

New Directions

About 6 months ago I was approached by a company in Montreal, Dei Neri,]Link here] about working with them on a innovative idea called stand'ART, that allows art to be placed any where in a home or out side, no need for walls. The other exciting thing for me was the printing would be on plexiglass, a material I have longed to print on but never had the nerve, as it would mean a lot of adjustments to my printer. So for the show at Galerie Art Plus we decided to print 2 works, one translucent which gives about 70 % of the color and one with a black backing which gives about 90 % of the color. It's really exciting for me to see and to start to sense where these may lead.

Celebrating

On this gray, drizzly day come on out and celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Galerie Art Plus, the vibrant and dynamic exhibition space created by Brigite and Peter when they bought and renovated the lovely white clapboard former United Church. Congrats Brigite and Peter and thanks so much for this wonderful addition to cultural life in Sutton.

And the vernissage for my exhibition 'Under Construction" is also this afternoon from 2 pm.  It would be lovely to see you.

The hanging is done, the labels are up and the show Rebelles / Rebelles at Galerie Arts Plus opens today with the vernissage this Saturday, November 7, at 2 pm. Rebelles / Rebelles, 2015 Edition

Opening next weekend, Rebelles / Rebelles, a group show of 41 artists, at Galerie Art Plus. This is a small format show with each artist working within a 9 inch x 9 inch frame. I will be showing new works from the Streams and Rivers series, charcoal and pastel on paper. It would be great to see you there.

Last week was so busy and I forgot to post about this non exhibition. For the month of February, Galerie Art Plus has an impromptu exhibition: «Ceci n'est pas une exposition». A little wink to forget the winter cold. It's a group show with John Murphy, Brigite Normandin, Richard Surette, Susan Surette et moi. and runs until the 23rd. The gallery is at 8, rue Maple, Sutton and is open from 1 -5 pm, Thursday to Sunday. Take a winter break and come out to see it! Additional information is on the poster at the bottom.

Across The Road

November is not my favourite month. I don't like the short days and the usually dreary weather, the loss of freedom of just walking outside without boots and heavy coat, but what I do love is its sudden bursts of drama. Finally the sun will come out and the studio lights up. The other day the light became an eerie dusty blue, almost electric, the trees shone. It was a fine show. And talking of shows, our friends Simone Schmidt, aka FIVER and Jeff Bierk are down from Toronto to give the 1st concert at Galerie Art Plus. What better way to spend an evening than listening to Simone and watching Jeff's projections. Hope to see you there. Info is on the bottom photo.
