Exploring Memory
Memories of my clothes making days, working with tissue paper patterns, made me think that if these hard pencils I've been using that leave groves in the paper and can be filled and smudged with graphite and chalk, why not try the old tracing wheel and transfer paper. I really like the idea of making marks using tracing paper; leaving traces behind, a faint image. An added plus, I love dots.

Can I come play in your studio? Or just sit and watch you work? In total awe.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer, Years ago we used to do open studios during the Tour des Arts, and I learned, very slowly, that this was a space just for me. Altough it's ful to bursting so may have to rethink that and do a studio sale.

ReplyDeleteI can't seem to comment on your blog (something to do with blog templates and third-party cookies, is my suspicion....), so I hope this is an ok way to communicate with you.
I just love watching you work. I love watching you try an idea, and run with it, and I love seeing where you go..... (You may be amused to know I took a pic of my last paper coffee cup.... :-) )
Thank you for sharing your process with us!
I love the way you are using the tracing wheel. It seems to me that they used to make white "paper" to use with it.....................
Thanks again for letting us watch as you work through ideas.

Thanks for letting me know about the problem posting comments Vicki, I'll see if I can fix that, again! And thanks for the tip about white tracing paper, found some yesterday so am happily experimenting. And watch out for the coffee cup pics, leads you to unexpected places, a bit like Alice and the magical potions.
DeleteHi Liz, have just had a chance to check out you beautiful black and white lines, and now the dots!, simply stunning and delicious, I hope you continue to play and explore. Go well
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona, ALAW has leaked into other areas, am even trying some rusting, rather unsuccessfully at the moment, but ever hopeful. Am enjoying your holiday, armchair traveller that I am!
DeleteLove all the explorations with lines and dots - memories of those paper pattern days for me too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosie, fun have things that we did years ago bubble up to the surface and nudge us along in our work now.
