The Studio

I have entered the cave of winter, the transition to the studio has never been so easy. This year the seasons have been very clear in the line between fall and winter. Thank you. I'm not torn between wanting to be in the garden and in the studio.  Doing both is always a struggle for me, a balance that I never quite achieve.

my place to sit when I can get the chair cleaned off

Looking back at some of the work tables,  trial prints from the "Coffee Cantata" on east wall

Drawing wall on right [west wall] with view out the south door to the studio garden

Looking south again

View if the long and very messy work tables [looking west]

My find of the week, hidden away, a HUGE folded, now unfolded sheet of brown paper,  stapled to the drawing wall

Looking north, another messy work table, big printer, where I sit to use J. computer to print,

  1. What wonderful space, and your chair looks pretty comfy as well.

    1. It's a great space Matthew, lovely to work in; just getting a bit crowded at the moment. Some reorganization needed, or at least put some things away. My mother in law gave us the chair, and I was delighted to have it finally wander into my studio.

  2. I can see how you could so easily be drawn into the garden with all those views. What a wondrous space, with areas to try and leave stuff, while you go on to do something else, or just sit and read, or look, or think, .... I agree with you that winter helps one concentrate in the studio - thanks for showing us round yours.

    1. Thanks Olga, I think that is the greatest thing about having this space is the leaving stuff around and letting it percolate so to speak. It's when I can't find the floor or a table I know I need to move some things along.

    1. Thanks Margaret, most years the snow is 1/2 way up the studio windows, but have only had to shovel out the windows a couple of time, then the light changes to a metalic blue and you know serious shovelling is coming up.

  4. What a great studio, Liz! It's bigger than my home and studio combined!

    1. Thanks Connie, the studios are bigger than our house too. We bought our place because it had a 65 ft barn attached that we knew would make for great studios. They were, but bloody cold in the winters, so rebuilt 15 + years ago. No more working in winter boots.
