Those Little Yellow Flowers

I have never known the name of these flowers,[ some people call them weeds,] until I was reading Altoon Sultan's blog [ link here] yesterday. They are called coltsfoot and look like miniature dandelions, Same wonderful cheery yellow but tiny in size with a red stem. They just appeared one year about the pond gardens, and me, thinking they were weeds went after them with a vengeance. I have relaxed my standards and am now delighted to see them, especially as the daffodils seem to be very slow to show their color.

  1. What gorgeous shots! I must admit to getting a bit of a chuckle watching the photos load. My daughters' favorite flowers are dandelions. They pick them everywhere and are always coming in with dandelion bouquets to put in a vase. Most times, they've just nipped the bloom off with no stem - those go into a bowl of water for a bit...usually until the girls go to bed. Somehow, they just never seem to last overnight. Hmmm...

  3. Thanks Fiona and Jennifer, I chuckled along with Fiona at the disappearing dandelion story, but I totally understand why the girls pick them, they are such "hello you" flowers. Any time the girls want to pick my lawn will be full of them in another couples of weeks.
