Driving Home

I don't know if everyone is as possessed about weather as we Canadians are, but really forget hockey, weather is our national sport, and with all 10 provinces under weather watches it promised to be an exciting couple of days. Here in the southern part of the Eastern Townships, we got off lightly, some snow, a lot of rain but seemed to have missed the dreaded freezing rain. It made for a moody, misty, and brooding landscape; must say I love it!

And, here in Quebec our national anthem is an ode to winter, and here is the incomparable Gilles Vigneault singing "Mon pays c'est l'hiver"Link here

Mon Pays

"Mon pays ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver" is the first line of a wonderful song by Gilles Vigneault: it's really Québec's national anthem and roughly translates as my land is not a land, it's winter. And yesterday as the temperature warmed up to -10C, and the snow fell and crunched underfoot, I was able to open up some of the paths to the woods, stomping my way through the snow on my snowshoes.

To listen to Gilles Vigneault sing Mon pays ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver click here.
And all the lyrics to the song are here.
