They have started; the first orange poppy opened yesterday shedding it hairy carapace; actually more like pushing it off and out of the way in its haste to bloom. I am always fascinated watching this process, a split appears, and then the crumpled tissue of the flower can be seen. And sometimes it seems to take days for the casing to fully open, but this year you can almost watch it before your eyes. Pop, pop, pop.

ReplyDeleteAny time Jennifer!
DeleteSometimes you just realise what a miracle life is…the photos are exquisite; but nature and poppies - are magnificent!
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly the time of year for seeing the miracles Fiona, some of the poppies are 6 feet tall this year! [they must have love last winter, unlike a few other plants I could mention!]
Deletewow! 6 foot tall poppies that is amazing, more photos of them please!!!
ReplyDeleteWell it rained for 3 days and those lovely poppies have been flattened, but the lupins are coming along so I have hopes….usually we get a big thunderstorm which flattens then. The garden continues to teach me impermanence
DeleteMagnificent!
