Looking Up

Every morning that we can, we sit out on the terrace under a crab apple tree that we planted years ago, The leaves are burgundy and provide a lovely foil to all the green about; and at this time of year, as most of the leaves are on the ground, if I look up the tiny fruit is glowing in the sun.

  1. crab apple trees are so beautiful, we had a lovely old tree in Aberdyfi in Wales. It had masses of glowing golden pinkish fruit, and the light filtering through the leaves was magic. I only once got round to making crab apple jelly, worth it just for the colour

    1. Hi Liz, This year is a banner apple year and now that most of our trees have lost their leaves quite the sight, I still haven't made apple jelly although friends come over and pick them and give me some, maybe the best way too cook!
