Continuing ...Colors of Dawn

I'm usually up early and love to sit outside with a coffee watching the sunrise. It's my quiet time; a time of wonder, of possibility, of hope, as the sun begins to rise and the new day is born.

The Ferry to Grand Manan

Bright, clear light, cool to cold breezes, shimmering water, simple strong shapes and grids everywhere. Did I say I loved that ferry ride?

Frost Lines

A new pattern appeared on the kitchen windows this morning, lines of frost, in the middle of the windows. Hmmm temperature dropped overnight, and the wind is blowing. Hello Spring…hello Spring…can you hear me….

A Month Of Sun

Everyone is cranky. The winter just doesn't seem to want to leave. The wind is howling and the snow is blowing, obscuring everything out side the studio windows. And I am making very dark drawings? Thinking about the grid that I was experimenting with last week [link here] I began to fantasize about calendars that show the phases of the moon, which led to wish calendars; specifically a month of sun.  Some of the suns look more like eggs. As long as they are filled with chocolate that's OK with me. Sun and chocolate please. Oh yes, and some warmer temperatures.

A Need For A Grid

I have been missing making grids and so when the electricity went out yesterday and the house got colder and the windows got frostier and I was taking a lot of photos while we waited to get back on grid, that metaphorical light bulb went off. Well here is the result. Power went off again last night, but as I was reading a seed catalogue in bed [if you had ever told me I would lie in bed reading seed catalogues with utter pleasure, I would have thought you were nuts] I just turned over and dreamed of grids.

Who Ever Knew

Who ever knew that sandpaper could be so gorgeous. Took these photos after doing the final sanding on the edges of my panels. About to pitch them in the garbage I finally "saw" them. Yummy butter yellow with soft white plaster and charcoal from the paint. The lines look scribbled and smudged and I like the straight lines and grid, actually they are covered with grids of the sanded off material by the time I throw them out.

Another Grid

I came down stairs the other morning to find the living room windows fogged over. We need to get the storm windows on, hopefully this week end. Meanwhile I love the patterns  and the texture the condensation has created.
