There is a big puddle of water in a lowest part of the lawn where I watch the ice melt during the day and freeze at night, making the most beautiful patterns. Wavy lines, even sometimes fairly straight lines and my favourite, circles. I haven't been able to find out how or why the circles are formed so I just enjoy them.

Thanks, Liz. Here I have been watching and photographing the receding snow and its strange edge with the revealed dried grass of last fall. It is not beautiful. I am trying to figure out if I will use them...something about birth pangs....hmmm..
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan, I know what you mean, I love the ice at the edge of the road that cracks and breaks when you step on it, how the water has run underneath it leaving it a thin shelf. I usually do them in black and white so that what's important to my eye is the form. As you can tell I get distracted by color, although I am longing for it again.
DeleteSo many manifestations of Nature are so beautiful that it is quite a challenge to contemplate even equalling their effect. I am glad that enough good artists do, however.
ReplyDeleteThanks Olga, I suspect most artist are fascinated by nature, the forms, color, textures, patterns...an endless supply of source material.
DeleteI love the ice drawings!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona, me too, will see if they find a way into my drawings.
