Well more photos of that sky but I am finding it hard to articulate what it meant or means to me. It was hard to focus on any thing else except the immensity. A place to breathe, a place to feel your heart swell, a place to just be.

Oh my goodness Liz, such memories! Tara Johns and I scouted alot in the Prairies looking for the perfect locations for The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mom! We landed up in Manitoba (for many different reasons) and while the Saskatchewan Prairies were unbeatable, we found wonderful partners and crew and cast and skies and roads and... BIG HEART in Manitoba. But those skies, man! They take your breath away. Your photos - as usual - capture the essence of that feeling! Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Barbara, we loved the Manitoba skies too, maybe it was just that Saskatchewan was that bit further. The people were great, so warm and friendly; big hearted as you say.
DeleteIt's a big sky country alright. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, amazing isn't it, I really miss it!

ReplyDeleteImmensity is the word ... and powerful, calming and timeless. Wonderful!
Thanks so much Charlton, and so sorry to be tardy replying! As you can see I had some problems using JB's iPad, and with my big fingers deleted your comment instead of publishing it, love the IPad but need smaller fingers / or a bigger screen.
DeleteI was born and grew up In Winnipeg, worked on the trains as a summer job when i was in fine arts. I know those skies well - and you've done a magnificent job capturing their essence and presence.
ReplyDeleteOh Ian,how wonderful for you, Must say I am totally envious. We have been wondering about the winters, whig I figure must be brutal at times, but I would to experience them. Stood on the corner of Portage and Main, in honour of all the years I heard it mentioned on CBC weather reports!
