Coffee Heart

We were having a coffee, in a little cafe that we have never been to before. And this is what I got. Love the way coffee answers all the questions.

Love

Happy Valentines Day or as it is known in our house as Ballantyne's Day.  Found this wonderful quote by Rainer Maria Rilke, which I feel says it all. "For one human being to love another that is perhaps the most difficult of our tasks; the ultimate, the last test and proof; the work for which all other work is but preparation."

The Heart Wood

After the big wind storm of last week and just before the big snow storm of this week, our friend Aurel had time to cut and haul away the 4 big trees we lost to the wind. The Manitoba Maple is considered a weed tree but the colors of the heart wood are glorious. See what you think!

Pruning

red thread, 2009, mixed media on paper

Thanks Jim Dine , 2009, mixed media on paper

Needed to prune a couple of the old apple trees, actually cut out some of the dead limbs. I love the heart exposed. After I posted this I went outside and sat under an old crab apple with my morning coffee, while the dew slid of the leaves and on to me.
