Dusk Yesterday

Late yesterday afternoon I went outside to photograph the wild turkeys walking about the studios and garden. Looking at the photos on the computer had me wondering how on earth I had manged to mess up so completely. Then I looked at the photos again. Sometimes mistakes are just wonderful.

The Garden at Dusk

The grass is cut, even some of the whipper snipping, and now we do the wander about ritual while the sun sets. Next to dawn this is my favourite time of day. The air cools, the bullfrogs start to sing. The land seems hushed.

Walking back along my studio wall towards the woods
Up the stairs and through the arch, Rosa Henry Hudson is having a fine year
The Stone People, who will probably party as soon as we leave
Through another arch to the pond
The pond at dusk, even the water lilies have closed their flowers for the night

Light Leaving

Well we are back to the cold with the snow frozen hard so that as you walk on top there is a crunching sound. Wandering round the garden yesterday afternoon I watched the dusk hover and take hold. Always surprised by the tenderness of the sky colors and the feeling of peace that comes over me as I watch this not always nightly ritual.
